FAQ
Questions, answered.
What M3 teams ask before they start: licensing, how Loupe connects to M3, what happens to your data, and what Loupe Code builds.
Loupe
- What is Loupe?
- A desktop app for Infor M3 with four tools: Compare for checking tables across environments, Automate for bulk API transactions, Explore for browsing tables and running MI transactions, and Code for building H5 apps, scripts and XtendM3 extensions with AI.
- How do I install Loupe?
- Loupe is a desktop app for Windows and macOS. Download it from the download page, sign in, and add your M3 environments.
- How do I sign in?
- You sign in to Loupe with your Microsoft work account, and to each M3 environment with your own M3 user.
- Does Loupe only work on CloudSuite?
- No. Loupe works with Infor M3 CloudSuite, and with M3 on premises as long as you are running 13.4 with Infor OS.
- How long before changes in M3 show up in Loupe?
- None. Loupe reads M3 live through its APIs every time you run something, so what you see is what M3 has right now.
- Does Loupe have a trial?
- Yes. We think you will be hooked once you use it, so we offer a trial and work with you to make it long enough to get a real feel for Loupe.
Licensing
- How many licences are included?
- Loupe does not license per user. One yearly licence covers the whole company, with as many users and M3 environments as you have.
- Is Loupe Code included in my Loupe licence?
- Yes. Your Loupe licence includes access to Loupe Code, with no per user pricing. Usage costs apply when you build with Loupe Code, and admins can set monthly limits for the company and for each person.
- Do the apps Loupe Code builds need extra licensing?
- No. Loupe Code builds standard M3 H5 apps, H5 scripts and XtendM3 extensions. Anyone in M3 can run them, in any of your environments.
- What happens if we stop paying?
- Everything Loupe Code built keeps running. It is standard M3 extensibility in your environment, so it does not depend on us being there, and the source is yours.
M3 and your data
- How does Loupe connect to M3?
- Through the M3 APIs on your ION API gateway, as the person signed in. Admins connect each environment once by uploading an Infor web application registration.
- Do you see which APIs we run and which tables we compare?
- No. M3 traffic goes directly between the desktop app and M3, so we have no access to what you are running or the data that comes back.
- Which tables can I compare?
- All M3 tables, right out of the box, across environments, companies and divisions.
- Can someone change data they are not allowed to?
- No. Loupe runs everything as the signed in M3 user, so M3 security applies. Automations that change data also ask for confirmation of the target environment first.
Loupe Code
- Do I need to be a developer to use Loupe Code?
- No. If you can describe what you want, Loupe Code can build it. Start with one screen and add more as you go.
- Who owns what Loupe Code builds?
- You do. It is readable source code in your M3, and you can sync it to your own git repository whenever you like. It stays yours if you ever leave.
- Can I check what Loupe Code will do before it changes anything?
- Yes. You see the plan before a build starts, and you preview the result on your own M3 before sharing it with your team. Nothing is installed in M3 unless you do it.
- How is Loupe Code different from other AI tools?
- Generic AI tools do not know M3. Loupe Code is connected to your M3, so it builds from your real transactions and fields, including custom fields, and what it builds runs inside M3.
- We were shown an AI app builder that promises no code, just conversation. How is this different?
- The builder is the part you see. Under it, the connections to your M3 are built by hand, usually by a consultant, before the conversation can start. Loupe Code reads your M3 directly, so there is no integration to build first, and what it builds runs inside M3 on your own sign in rather than on their platform.
- What languages can the apps speak?
- Any number of them. Add languages with a click, and each user automatically gets the language they have configured in M3.
- I already use Loupe. How do I get Loupe Code?
- Ask us to switch it on. There is nothing new to install and no new sign in.
